Are there considerations that should be kept in mind when using program management tools? What are some possible risks or limitations? -As somewhat discussed during the session, some of the challenges to utilizing of the program management tools, such as the Gantt chart, is that the variables in play are very dynamic. For example, some of the specific key players that Dr. Gobin had in mind when putting together basic resources such as space, dedicated faculty time changed between conception and implementation. So while mapping out a Gantt chart helps solidify when things are to take place and for how long (which I think is great chart), I'd imagine that this chart from beginning to end, can become very fluid and look drastically different from conception to delivery. Also I imagine that the list of "acitivties" to keep track of can get rather large in very big projects, making this chart complex to read and coordinate as a whole. -In the same vein, keeping track of all the stakeholders can be quite tough on larger projects, and as Dr. Gobin and Dr. Martin discussed during the session when their NIH funding got cut, the amount and type of stakeholders became drastically longer and diverse.
